Refinishing Oak with Osmo Terra

This client approached us to re sand and oil the kitchen and hallway. The previously laid Osmo oil had begun to fade away and become patchy. Sounds simple, right? The catch was the hallway flowed into the study without any threshold/break between the two areas. This can be problematic as when re sanding and oiling as it can be challenging to blend the newly oiled area with the old one. The benefit however is of course you save money and time by only working on the areas which need the rework!

Nonetheless, we explained the various outcomes and set to work. The team used various machines to sand the floor to a nice and smooth finish. With Osmo oils we like to go that bit further and sand to a higher grit prior to applying the oil. This is important as it allows for a more uniform oil coloration. This is what enables us to get that level of perfection. The Osmo oil takes around 10 hours to cure before we are able to apply the second coat.

The outcome: the client was thrilled! The technicians were able to blend the two sections in very well – you truly cannot see any difference in colour between the newly oiled area and the study.

What do you think of the final outcome?!
