Who doesn’t love a three-story Camden town property?! This property was being renovated ahead of the new owner’s arrival. 200 square metres of pine and  Oak flooring was in dire need of a refresh. However, this fairy tale does come with its own challenges. Our team were brought in as the previous contractors went missing; I think we all know a story or two similar to that. This meant that we had no idea what stain colour the client had agreed with the previous contractors. We had one reference photo of the sample which had been laid on the floor but no indication of the name/brand. More on this later!

We sent in five of our technicians to  undertake this mammoth of a task: 200m2 of flooring to be sanded, filled and stained. We had a strict timeframe of 2 weeks to complete the entire project. This timeframe was set by the project development company and also by our team as we have back-to-back bookings – one delayed project can have a knock-on effect on future bookings.

Having meticulously planned the schedule of the job, our technicians really showcased their experience. Each floor was methodically sanded, gap filled and further sanded in preparation of applying the mystery oil! As we were working backwards, the only hope we had was to order in a lot of samples and start laying them to try and match the sample from the photo that the client and previous contractor agreed on. Three days later with over 30 samples  being laid, we found a winner: Osmo Raw. Whilst challenging to work with, this product is exceptional at achieving a natural, ‘Raw’ and untreated look. The challenge really stems from application. As this product is pigmented white, if too much product is applied there will be patches of excess white. Fortunately, we have worked with this product countless times – having made the mistakes earlier on in our careers – we applied the product without any issues.

The result? The team not only sanded and sealed the entire area, but also managed to find the exact sample that the client and previous contractor agreed upon having just one reference photo to work with! Now not all credit can be taken by our amazing technicians, we operate incredibly advanced machinery which helps ensure the process is as efficient and dust free as possible. Equally, we have amazing relations with the technicians at Osmo – Richard and Paul have always been amazing!
