How do I get rid of the orange colour in my floor!?

The overwhelming majority of our clients approach us with the goal of removing the orangey look of their floorboards! That 90’S looks definitely makes many homes look outdated and actually smaller in size.

This project is a perfect example of how much of a difference sanding your flooring makes to the overall look of the room. The room now looks completely refreshed,  spacious and elegant.

Our technician ran a large belt sander over the Victorian pine floorboards. This not only strips off the previous horrible orange sealant but also levels the boards. A specialised more compact machine is then used to sand the edges – this is called an edge sander. All of our machinery is connected to highly power dust extractors making our sanding truly dust free floor sanding.

This particular flooring was finished/sealed with a Wood Lye (see next post!) + lacquer. Lacquers come in various different sheens – this is the level of shine. The three sheens are Extra Matt, Matt and Silk Matt. People often assume lacquers make the floor shiny but the reality is the sheen level can be altered. For example, in this project, our client wanted a very natural wooden look. To ensure they were completely satisfied, our technicians laid samples of lacquers in the various sheens. This is a great service we offer as it enables you to see what the final outcome will look like. The age of your wood and the ambient lighting plays a significant role in how the final look will come out. The client then opted for extra Matt as they felt this retained the most natural, raw look of the floor.
